These are our original red 80A durometer poly rear subframe bushings and are modified replacements that will not only reduce play in the rear suspension components substantially compared to the old and mushy OEM rubber bushings, but the "raised" design will move the subframe up 12mm to help correct some of the unwanted camber and toe that comes from lowering an E30. This has a similar effect to raising the suspension so the rear geometry resembles that of a stock height E30. The 12mm raised bushing's average geometry correction (camber and toe) is from -5 degrees to -1.5 degrees depending on your suspension setup.

They are slightly stiffer than the OEM units which will cause a tiny bit more NVH to be transferred through the chassis, but the benefits greatly outweigh the small sacrifice in comfort. 80a the softest poly bushing in our lineup and are perfect for a street performance E30 that will see the occasional autocross or track day. See the useful links below for more info on our various density materials. Pair these up with our poly rear trailing arm bushings for a complete rear subframe bushing solution!

We highly recommend professional installation as these will require a press to install as well as remove your old bushings.

A NOTE WHEN INSTALLING RAISED SUBFRAME BUSHINGS

When installing Garagistic raised subframe bushings the differential mount will no longer line up with the mounting provision on the chassis, but we have a couple of solutions for this! The first option is to install extended studs and spacers onto the differential (Link). This will effectively space the differential back down 12mm from the raised subframe back into the factory position. This will allow the use of a standard centered differential bushing and maintains the factory drive line geometry. The second option is to simply run an offset differential bushing (Link). This will allow the differential to be mounted to the subframe in the factory orientation and the repositioned hole in the differential bushing to line up with the factory bracket. This will change the drive line geometry in the rear! We have used both methods with success on street and track applications.

WHY SHOULD GO TO POLY REAR SUBFRAME BUSHINGS IN MY E30?

E30s are old. Those rear subframe bushings are tired. Chances are they have never been changed. You have installed a performance suspension setup, but you may still notice that the loose rear-end of the e30 is constantly dancing around and trying to kill you as you go around a turn or stepping out under hard acceleration. That's the worn-out rubber bushings allowing the e30 rear subframe to move around. This causes undesired changes in the rear suspension geometry and the car will become unstable and at times unpredictable. This is often accompanied by annoying clunking sounds and creaks.  The poly rear subframe bushings keep everything where it should be under hard driving conditions and restores the precision and predictability of the handling characteristics. There will be a slight increase in road-noise transferred into the cabin.

Installation Notes

With the old bushings removed, thoroughly clean the inside of the housings to prepare for the new Garagistic subframe bushings.

Standard Subframe Bushings:
The bushings with the THICK lip will be on the TOP. The bushings with the THIN shoulder will be on the BOTTOM.

Raised Subframe Bushings:
The bushings with the THICK lip will be on the BOTTOM. The bushings with the THIN lip will be on TOP.

The two provided races are recessed on one end. This recessed end will be installed facing up to allow the top OEM washer to fit on top of the bushing.
