Our Garagistic late-model selector joints are precision-machined from solid billet aluminum and serve as a direct replacement for OEM part number 25117580281. This selector joint is found in later-model BMWs, including E36 (from production date 10/94), E34, E39, E46, E60, Z4, and even G80 models.

We’ve modernized the BMW selector joint design by replacing the OEM plastic barrel with a precision-sealed bearing assembly for smoother, more durable performance. When paired with our updated DSSR hardware, which replaces the traditional pins and clips, this setup allows you to tighten the DSSR securely onto the selector joint without binding, further reducing any remaining slop in your shifter assembly.

The Garagistic “late-model” shift selector joint (BMW PN# 25117580281) is a direct-fit replacement that installs seamlessly on OEM shifters, our Supreme Shifter, or any of our chassis-mounted short shifters—just like the original factory unit.

Over time, aging BMW transmissions tend to develop play in the shifter assembly, often due to wear in the factory selector joint’s plastic bushing (and sometimes the disintegration of the internal foam insert). Our upgraded selector joint eliminates these weak points, helping to restore a crisp, precise shifting feel.

Replacing this component is a simple yet highly effective maintenance upgrade for any older BMW, tightening up your shifter response and improving your overall driving experience.

Please Note: Factory OEM BMW selector rod pins may have slight variations in thickness and therefore some pins may have a tighter fit on our selector joints. This can be resolved with a quick cleaning (to remove grime and debris). In some cases, light sanding may be required. Our selector joints are a perfect fit for all of our DSSRs.
